"Dogs aren't born mooing", and Gay Marriage Doesn't Harm Traditional Families
Focus On The Family is dead set against same sex marriage, and its "anti dog-mooing" website pooh poohs claims of gay activists - that existing laws on civil unions only grant them a fraction of the legal rights afforded to legally married couples. Why do they need so many rights ? - FOF seems to ask.
On it's "Sherman the Dog Who Doesn't Moo" website, Focus On The Family asserts that gays are asking for "special treatment" but offers no actual refutation to the uncontestable fact same civil union laws do NOT offer the same legal rights as does marriage. None can be made.
[ Focus on The Family ] So why are unmarried gays asking for special treatment? Because what they really want is full marriage. Domestic partnerships are just a stepping stone to the end goal. Somehow, FOF feels that demands for equal rights under the law are "unreasonable". Focus On The Family is strongly opposed to same sex marriage but has missed a few relevant facts on the issue. FOF is based in Colorado, one of the few US states to show - during the last two years - a rise on its divorce rate: about a 7% increase. In the same two year period Massachusetts, with legal same sex marriage, had a 10% decrease in its divorce rate [Link: "Christian Right Wrong On Gay Marriage in Massachusetts"].
Facts aside, with all the free advertising the kerfluffle will lend to the Gill Foundation's efforts some might be tempted to ask : Does James Dobson harbor secret urges to "moo" ?
