Models of Organizing (none / 0)
A discussion that is long overdue. With millions more Americans being thrown out of work, and no social safety net for those already excluded from employment, politics in the US is going to be anything but rational for the foreseeable future. Throw in conspiracism and religious fanaticism into this volatile mixture, and the social disintegration now underway will become anything but orderly. If the old models of political organizing were workable, we wouldn't be in this fix.

Burke's remarks don't surprise me, but this is a bit rich coming from a hierarchy whose chief interest was in institutional self-preservation, to the disgust of many ordinary Catholics such as myself.

Someone should ask Burke what about the souls that were murdered by the clergy being protected from justice???

Or maybe I should say they attempted to murder.  I've been involved in helping to "put back together" more than one spiritually wounded person of the heirarchy.  Those wounds never truly heal- and affect a person for the rest of their life.  

Not all are victims of sexual abuse either.  Some have been shipwrecked on the inflexible and unloving teachings of the church (and I've seen this from almost every denomination).
