What the Hardcore RR Thinks about McCain
By wilkyjr Mon May 05, 2008 at 09:45:30 AM EST printable version print story
Review it on NewsTrust
I first ran across Texe Marrs through a book circulating in my Senior Adult department in church. Texe had published a book he claims to have sold nearly a half million copies of over a decade ago.  The book was called BIG SISTER IS WATCHING YOU. The jest of the manuscript was that Hillary Clinton was working secretly with Janet Reno to destroy Christianity and overthrow the nation through a lesbian network.
see www.powerofprophecy.com
topic: Analysis of Christian Right
Marrs, who says he is an ex University of Texas professor, has made a lucrid profit from such "research".  He has advertized on the Christian Coalition network and is known to have listed more than one huge mansion he has in the Austin area.  Marrs is a common example of the way some seek to mix their eschatology with right wing conspiracies.  The best way to explain Texe is to use the illustration of Pat Robertson.  In Pat's Book, NEW WORLD ORDER, Pat claims the Masonic Lodge, PTA, the Congress and the Council on Foreign Relations, (to name just a few of the parties) are working to overthrow the government to set up a one world order.  Texe Marrs believes the same thing, but he believes Robertson is in on the plot!
In "Power of Prophecy", Texe's monthly journal, Marrs lays out his position on McCain.  The article by Texe says, "John McCain is a vile, wicked, deceitful man, a warmonger and sexual deviant.  Make no mistake about it.  If this man wins the presidency, America is finished as a nation. Forever."
The paper says that a Zionist Masonic overlords plot has the senator under his control.  McCain is accused of being lead around by "... ADL stooge handler, Jewish bigot, and closet homosexual, Senator Joe Lieberman."  Two  Rothchild Illuminiti held a secret lunch with John McCain and worked out their evil plans. The paper says, "John McCain is bought by Jews."
Texe says McCain the war hero actually came back to the states afer being a POW and helped Jane Fonda destroy the war effort.  To be honest, Texe says, "John McCain is a monster, period.  In a word, this man is dangeour, soul-less psychopath."  Marrs says McCain has never done an honest days work and failed at every endeavor in his life for example getting shot down in Viet Nam. The Jewish Mafia, according to the writer, wants John to help engage America in World War III to make the country a slave state. Texe laments the fact that stupid religous right Christians will fall for this "like dumb dogs".
Marrs is an example of how hard it is to gather the entire religious right group around a candidate.  To people like Texe, who have always viewed the nation's leadership as scoundrels involved in secret societies, for religious right candidates to win an election means they did not change the government, they just joined in on the polt.  President Bush lost his first run for office in Texas seeking to enter Congress.  In West Texas some of these stories about Bush being a Yale man in Skull and Bones Socities got circulated and cost Bush the election. He was deeply disturbed by such.  The story only goes to prove placing the entire group in one room causing them to live together proves to be a difficult union. Getting all these types under one big religious right tent makes for a real circus.

Display:
I heard of Texe Marrs years ago when he published a book about the "conspiracy" behind New Age thought. I don't think the man has written a sane sentence in any one of his books.

I have heard of allegations about McCain supposedly being a Manchurian Candidate in the style of the movie of the same name, but I don't think this is a valid criticism of McCain. These conspiracy mongers don't and can't admit we weren't ever going to be able to fight a low-tech insurgency war in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, so they cook up their variations on the Dolchstosslegende to explain their losses. Many of these Dolchstosslegende blame war critics at home, the press in their reporting on the war, and everyone except the people actually at fault, and our own government's hubris in fighting it. From what I know, some of the POW-MIA groups are spreading this sort of talk. My own opinion is that McCain is abandoning any sort of "maverick" opinions he might once have held in order to kowtow to the religious wingnuts so powerful in today's Republican party. McCain's obvious abandonment of any principles he might have possessed in the race to gain the Republican nomination is one primary reason that I don't care for him as a candidate, the other primary reason I don't care for him is his obvious willingness to carry on the legacies of one of the singularly unpopular presidents in the 20th century-George W. Bush.

khughes, could you please define the term Dolchstosslegende?  It is a word I believe I would be interested in understanding since it seems to apply to this conspiracy stuff.  Thanks for the reply.

by wilkyjr on Tue May 06, 2008 at 08:45:25 AM EST

It means the "stab in the back legend." The term originated after World War I when the defeated German veterans sought a scapegoat explaining why Germany lost the war. Their claim is that they were "stabbed in the back." The claim has been recycled at various times in American history, for example, with the Congressional Republicans after World War II blaming the Democrats for "losing China" after the rise of Mao, despite the fact China was never ours to lose, or when the right wing blamed the press, war critics and war protestors for "losing the war in Vietnam." The right wing has had a successful time in peddling its version of why the US Armed Forces were defeated in Vietnam, and there was an article in Harper's magazine within the last 2 years about how they are peddling the current version of the "dolchstosslegende" to explain away our lack of success in Iraq.

crowd, at least by the blurbs I remember from the back of his book.
