The idea is that it was a few women who as a menial service went to anoint with cleansing spices the body of Jesus in the tomb after the crucifixion who first announced the miraculous resurrection.
The women were not believed because of their low status. 10 "It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles." 11 "And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not."Later, Jesus appeared to some of his disciples who were walking on the road to the castle town of Emmaus. Jesus appeared in a form they did not recognize at first, and only later revealed himself to them. Therefore the humblest servant of God who nonetheless has true belief and dedication to service among humankind is among those most blessed and to be honored among Christians. This is also a passage used by women Christian evangelicals that allows their incorporation of feminist ideas of subverting patriarchy into the sphere of evangelical culture, so that they can say they are submissive to men, but remind men that it was women who first believed in the resurrection as prophesied. Therefore the views of Christian women should be taken seriously and they should not be disdained as frivolous, since women were the chosen messengers of God who announced to the world that Christ has risen. In the context of organized evangelism, the mission of the Christian is to be a servant of God in the real world.
