Gingrich & Huckabee Endorse Christian Antiabortion Militancy

As Christian Newswire just announced four hours ago, "Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Lou Engle, Ron Luce and others link up this week to inspire people of faith to reclaim the Nation's spiritual foundation." The event will be broadcast over GodTV, a Christian media network founded in 1995 which claims to be able to reach hundreds of millions globally.

On Sunday May 31, 2009 late-term abortion doctor George Tiller was allegedly gunned down in the lobby of his Wichita, Kansas church by a man, Scott Roeder, who had ties to the racist wing of the militia movement. The next morning CBS's Jeff Glor reported, "We did speak with the accused shooters' ex-wife yesterday. She said she was not surprised this happened and that she believed Roeder wanted to be a martyr for the cause."

If the event goes as planned, Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee will appear, only days after Tiller was slain, with a man who has publicly agitated against George Tiller and called for Christian martyrs to stop legal abortion: Lou Engle of TheCall.

This Thursday June 4 at 8.30pm and Friday June 5 at 8am, GOP superstars Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich are slated to share a stage, in a TV special broadcast on GodTV, with an advocate for acts of Christian martyrdom.

Does "reclaiming the Nation's spiritual foundation" involve violent acts of Christian martyrdom, otherwise known as domestic terrorism, against abortion clinics and against doctors willing to risk assassination in order to save women with problematic pregnancies likely to claim their lives ?

It might appear that Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee think it does.

As detailed my story, Anti-Gay Marriage Pro-Prop 8 Leader Called For Antiabortion Martyrs, which features footage from the video documentary "Jesus Camp" and from Engle's TheCall events, Lou Engle is in a stream of the Christian right that seems to have been grooming children, teens, and young adults to lay down their lives with the alleged enthusiasm attributed to young Hamas suicide bombers willing to strap bomb belts to their waists in order to blow themselves and Israeli civilians to bloody bits.

Lou Engle's The Call played an important, and little discussed, role in the push for California's Proposition 8 during the lead-up to the November 1, 2008 presidential election. But Engle's The Call events have a dual function though; at that same event, held in San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium, Lou Engle and what appeared in available footage of the event to be Engle's disciple Eddie Brown, made high-profile calls, from the stage, for acts of Christian martyrdom to combat legal abortion.

During an impassioned and inflammatory speech to the audience, Engle declared that a second American civil war was inevitable if legalized abortion is not stopped. Some might accuse Lou Engle seems of working with great dedication to bring that prophecy into nightmarish reality.

As I wrote in my story,

Lou Engle appeared in the Heidi Ewing / Rachel Grady runaway hit documentary Jesus Camp. The Official documentary website states that at Becky Fischer's "Jesus Camp" summer camp, "kids are taught to become dedicated soldiers in God's army and are schooled in how to take America back for Christ." In the film, Fischer states her desire to indoctrinate the children at her camp so that they have the same level of dedication as Hamas suicide bombers.

When Fischer's "Jesus Camp" children become young adults, they will gravitate toward Lou Engle's slickly marketed TheCall events, which draw between 20 and 80 thousand people per event and are held in the US and also internationally, in Kansas, San Diego, and Washington DC but also in Australia, Germany, the Philippines, Norway, England, Jerusalem and Brazil...

Less than a year and a half ago Lou Engle, at a December 31, 2007 TheCall event held in Kansas City, announced his new doctrine, "The Doctrine of The Shedding of Innocent Blood",

"Surely blood requires blood in God's judgment. God so highly values humanity that He protects it with His severe judgment. A day of reckoning is set if man does not obey Him...

Where there is shedding of innocent blood, there is no atonement for the land. There is a blood pollution problem on America's soil. The most "dangerous terrorist" is not Islam, but God. One of God's names is "the Avenger of Blood." Have you worshipped [sic] that God yet?"

...do these people worship!?  "Avenger of Blood"? Sounds like some kind of ancient demonic war god.
These folks believe God is a terrorist? So why aren't they in Guantanamo right now?

by Frank Frey on Wed Jun 03, 2009 at 09:29:36 AM EST

...that God is a terrorist is the idea that terrorism is justifiable when perpetrated for the "right" reason. Really, the only thing preventing Engle from outrightly calling for violence is the fact that he knows he can't get away with it... yet.
