The goal of Engle's Call to Action is to "redefine voting" for the next generation as a "prophetic act" and train them that they don't vote Democrat or Republican but vote "moral absolute truths," creating a mass army of young, motivated Christian voters who will pledge never to vote for a candidate who is not anti-choice, thereby creating a "spiritual revolution [and] training a generation to seize technology and turn the tide" Then Newt Gingrich assumed the position. |
After Newt Gingrich's speech - in which the former "Contract With America" and GOP 1994 takeover of Congress mastermind called the ACLU a "hateful, anti-religious system designed to drive God out of America" and declared that Americans (non-pagans, at least) were "surrounded by paganism," Newt Gingrich assumed the position while Lou Engle called upon God to bless the former US Speaker of The House with divine magical power: "influence for righteousness in this nation, lay your supernatural hand of God upon him and deliver him from the evil schemes of the enemy."
"The position", in this case, is a posture typically taken during charismatic Christian ceremonies in which "spiritual gifts" are transmitted through the laying-on of hands: head down, hands held out or upraised. The posture suggests humility and receptiveness.
