While I am not Catholic, I accidentally ran across this article which is of interest to us on this blog - it involves Vatican actions that concern attempts at political control...
The Vatican is asking Catholic Sisters (not nuns - woman's organizations that do charity work and other activities) to answer some tough questions, a portion of them looking for liberal beliefs or activities.  This survey or assessment is being run by more conservative groups.

I feel great concern over this- they say it shouldn't concern us, but whenever the Vatican tries to exert direct control over others (especially in politics and areas like that), it affects everyone.  It reminds me of the other activities that have been reported on T2A... where the hierarchy has trampled on liberals and tried to force conservatism on American Catholics.

I look forward to seeing how the church (none / 0)
handles those who aren't "toeing the line" doctrine-wise.

It's evident, by this example and countless others, that the left is at great disadvantage when it comes to rigid conformity. It must be nice to not have to see the other side's point of view, nor have a nuanced opinion of how others should choose to worship.

Second cousin to "ignorance is bliss", I guess.

this *is* about nuns (none / 0)
"sisters" = nuns. These surveys have been distributed to "women religious," which means, those who are in religious orders. The article I linked to said that the survey was going out to women who were not members of orders associated with being a nun.

Indeed, the article I read and linked to made it clear that it wasn't going out to nuns.  If your article says that it did- this is very interesting, and raises some questions.
