Texas Churches and the Governor's Race
Governor Perry has been involved in several state Restoration Projects. These meetings, paid for by a small cartel of wealthy activists, invite significant pastors and wives to attend meetings paid for by the Project. Hotels, meals and banquets are part of the perks. One I attended featured Perry, Mike Huckabee and David Barton. The message of the meetings I attended was clear that churches needed to get out the voters. Democratic contender Bill White is no stranger to church politicking. He is known to spend a large portion of his Sundays as mayor in Houston speaking in Black churches. Perry appears to have access to a few Black congregations, while White need not hold his breath waiting for a white church invitation. The state's largest Baptist church, in Dallas, invited Ralph Reed in 2004 to speak on activism. Reed at the time was head of the Bush campaign. Recently, during one twelve hour period, I noticed a steady stream of information forwarded to potential listeners about politics in general. In White's home town, Rush Limbaugh was on the radio warning the country about Obama's radical agenda to destroy the American way of life the President so despised. Hal Lindsey was on TV that day warning the nation about the program Obama had to make Islam the official religion of America and destroy our way of life. We were invited to send Hal money so that he could help stop the Democratic President from his intent to ruin the nation. Hal had gotten too far out with TBN and Paul Crouch cut the transmitters on Lindsey because he was so anti-Arab. Hal and Paul later kissed and made up and he is back on prime time. His fellow eschatological traveler is Jack Van Impe. Jack sent me a letter that evening and noted for all to see that, the President, might well be, could possible be, probably is the anti-Christ. Some pulpits in the state will probably deduct that White is on a team headed by the ultimate evil known to the world Some have all ready made that call I am informed.
