Denver, Keep Fighting and Educating About CUFI
I've just returned from Denver, where I spoke both publicly and privately, to Jews and Christians, about the many reasons why this partnership is dangerous to Jews and to Israel's prospects for peace, and a problem for healthy interfaith relations. Despite denials to Jewish communities, CUFI directors including Robert Stearns, Stephen Strang and George Morrision (and Jack Hayford, a board member at the formation of CUFI, according to the Jerusalem Post announcement) are involved in promoting Messianic ministries in Israel and elsewhere. The ideology has been tagged as "One New Man" or the coming together of Jews and Gentiles in Christ. Jews are allowed and encouraged to keep their Jewish identity, rituals, and holidays, but must accept Jesus in order to advance the Millennium or 1000-year utopia on earth. There is not room here for anything more than an overview of examples, but CUFI leaders are at the core of a movement promoting Messianic Judaism (Jews who convert but keep their identity). I am happy to provide further research materials and documentation. Below is video of "The Call" Jerusalem in 2008 led by Lou Engle, Mike Bickle (International House of Prayer) and CUFI director Robert Stearns. This event was simultaneous with the Global Day of Prayer in 2008 with the goal of bringing Christian and "Jewish believers" together. (Stearns is not visible in this video but can be seen on stage in other videos of the event.) The Call Jerusalem, 2008 CUFI director Robert Stearns teaches for the Israel Mandate of the International House of Prayer (IHOP) and their annual event. The mandate is stated as "seeing the nation of Israel walking in their full destiny at the end of the age. Our primary role is to pray for and partner with the Messianic Jews who live in Israel and to pray for God’s purposes in the nation of Israel.” Stearns taught at this year's event with Messianic leaders Dan Juster and Eitan Shishkoff. IHOP is geared toward preparing young people to be warriors in the end times and is an example of the growth of a more aggressive end times narrative in which believers will not be raptured but will fight the Antichrist. Stearns writes, "The next generation will deepen its understanding of discernment as they prepare to serve and obey as soldiers in the last-days battle. Promo video for Israel Mandate 2010 conference "Israel and the Church in the End Times" CUFI Director George Morrison of Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promise Keepers (as noted in his CUFI bio) which has shifted to a "One New Man" emphasis on supporting and promoting Messianic ministries. CUFI director Robert Stearns is co-founder of the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem (DPPJ) with Jack Hayford, founder of King's Seminary. This is the largest international Christian Zionist event and it also has a "One New Man" emphasis. A widely used "text" for the One New Man ideology is Don Finto's 2001 book Your People Shall Be My People, that has been distributed to churches participating in DPPJ. Jack Hayford's seminary has a Messianic division called The King's Jewish Voice, a partnershp with Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Bernis' Messianic Jewish Bible Institute which is helping to build Messianic training and communities in countries around the world. CUFI leaders John Hagee, Robert Stearns, and Michael Little (of Christian Broadcast Network) endorse the charitable arm of Maoz Israel, a leader in forming Hebrew speaking indigenous Messianic ministries, located in Tel Aviv. Below are graphics from Maoz Israel.
For more information on Maoz Israel see: CUFI Director Stephen Strang founded and heads Strang Communications, the leading publisher of charismatic evangelical media and publisher of several of John Hagee's books and Standing with Israel by David Brog. Strang's Charisma Magazine dedicated an issue in 2008 to Messianic ministries and missionaries in Israel including the leaders of Maoz Israel, Dugit Ministries, Jerusalem Institute of Justice, and many more.
CUFI Director Stephen Strang's Charismamagazine calls for Christians to "Bless Israel" by working with Messianic outreach groups while they are visiting Israel. Nevertheless he has announced in the magazine that the Israel Ministry of Tourism has asked him to help find pastors who wish to travel to Israel free of charge. Religious Supremacism and the "Reclaiming the Seven Mountains Campaign" Christian Zionism is camouflaging an aggressive strain of religious supremacism called "Dominionism." This dominionist movement is growing in popularity among sectors of the Religious Right and participants are being taught that they must "reclaim" the "Seven Mountains" of society and government.
