A video titled Flotilla Choir presents: We Con the World has been produced and posted by Latma TV, described as an initiative of the Center for Security Policy by senior fellow of the organization, Caroline Glick, who is also deputy managing editor of the Jerusalem Post.  A link to the satirical video, subtitled "Turkish ‘Aid to Gaza’ Song with Captain Stabbing & Friends," can currently be accessed from the website of John Hagee's Christians United for Israel (CUFI).

The Center for Security Policy is described as a "non-profit non-partisan security organization that specializes in identifying policies, actions, and resource needs that are vital to American security..." The organization's website lists board and advisory committee members including Frank Gaffney (President) and over two dozen high ranking retired U.S. military officers, along with commendations from Ronald Reagan, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and General Jim Jones.  But at this moment, the introductory screen of their website features the musical satire video, complete with the performance of its own Caroline Glick.

[Update: Christian Broadcast Network has now posted an article and link to Caroline Glick's website. The Jerusalem Post states the video has had one million hits and claims it was mistakenly sent out by the Government Press Office to foreign journalists.]

The video was produced by Latma. Glick states on her website,
"Latma is the initiative of the Center for Security Policy's Middle East media project that I run in my capacity as the CSP's senior fellow for Middle Eastern Affairs."

In addition to the Center for Security Policy and Caroline Glick's own website, the musical satire video can also currently be accessed at John Hagee's Christians United for Israel under "Headlines for the Middle East and Israel" on the introductory page. After clicking on that link, Latma's YouTube video can be accessed in the left column of the page.

Jewish writer Leon Wieseltier titled his New Republic article, Operation We Make the World Hate Us and this video is yet another example of the tone deafness of Israel and some of her most vocal supporters. As Wieseltier wrote,

"Israel does not need enemies: it has itself. Or more precisely: it has its government."

Additionally Israel has, in recent years, become defined by its trumpet section of right wing supporters who appear quite anxious to fulfill the horrific prophecies one can find in the pages of John Hagee's books - an end times fantasy in which the rest of the world (including Turkey) turns on Israel. It is clear in Hagee's books and sermons why he has this death wish for the modern state of Israel.  It is less clear why Jewish supporters of Israel would share this desire to self-destruct.

Hagee’s commentary in The Prophecy Study Bible about the Tribulation period, which he teaches is imminent,

"Israel will face staggering losses in war....  At the midway point of the Tribulation, Israel will be attacked by:

-Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal (names referring to geographical regions of modern-day Russia or Turkey)
-Persia (modern-day Iran)
-Ethiopia
-Put (modern-day Libya)
-Gomer (eastern Asia Minor in modern-day Turkey - although they may have migrated from territory that now belongs to the countries of the fomer USSR)
-BethTogarmah (in the eastern part of modern-day Turkey, near the Syrian border)

This is the first battle of the three-and-one half year war of Armageddon, which will actually be fought over  all of Palestine."
--John Hagee's commentary in The Prophecy Study Bible (Nashville:  Thomas Nelson, Inc., 1997), p. xviii

Compilations of quotes from John Hagee can be accessed at Hagee vs. Hagee - In His Own Words and Hagee in His Own Words - Part Two. Also see Bruce Wilson's Talk2action article on the Latma video. He was equally appalled and has additional information on Caroline Glick. Robert Mackey also posted an article on this topic this afternoon at the New York Times.

J Street, an organization that is “pro-Israel and pro-peace” has posted a list of articles on the Gaza Flotilla that represent a more nuanced assessment (than that of Caroline Glick and Latma) of Israel’s current situation at http://jstreet.org/page/gaza-flotilla.

Words to musical satire, "We Con the World:"

Here comes a time
When we need to make a show
For the world, the Web and CNN
There's no people dying,
so the best that we can do
Is create the greatest bluff of all

We must go on pretending day by day
That in Gaza, there's crisis, hunger and plague
Coz the billion bucks in aid won't buy their basic needs
Like some cheese and missiles for the kids

We'll make the world
Abandon reason
We'll make them all believe that the Hamas
Is Momma Theresa
We are peaceful travelers
With guns and our own knives
The truth will never find its way to your TV

Ooooh, we'll stab them at heart
They are soldiers, no one cares
We are small, and we took some pictures with doves
As Allah showed us, for facts there's no demand
So we will always gain the upper hand

We'll make the world
Abandon reason
We'll make them all believe that the Hamas
Is Momma Theresa
We are peaceful travelers
we're waving our own knives
The truth will never find its way to your TV

If Islam and terror brighten up your mood
But you worry that it may not look so good
Well well well well don't you realize
You just gotta call yourself
An activist for peace and human aid

We'll make the world
Abandon reason
We'll make them all believe that the Hamas
Is Momma Theresa
We are peaceful travelers
We're waving our own knives
The truth will never find its way to your TV

We con the world
We con the people
We'll make them all believe the IDF is Jack the Ripper
We are peaceful travelers
We're waving our own knives
The truth will never find its way to your TV
We con the world (we con the world...)
We con the people (we con the people...)
We'll make them all believe the IDF is Jack the Ripper
We are peaceful travelers
We're waving our own knives
The truth will never find its way to your TV
The truth will never find its way to your TV

and the injury of 30 more is cause for celebration and laughing at the misfortune of others. How very loving and considerate of them to take the time to make fun of it all.

I see a satire highlighting the hypocrisy of an intransigent uncompromising political entity pretending to have peaceful intentions.
