John Hagee Refuses Open MSBNC Invitation To Clarify Remarks

On August 5th, 2011, one day before Rick Perry's August 6th The Response prayer event, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell challenged Texas Governor Perry's decision to include, as a speaker at the event, Christians United For Israel founder and head John Hagee - because of comments from Hagee that many have taken to be anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic. O'Donnell vowed that if Perry chose to run for president in the 2012 election, he would make sure Hagee's controversial statements stuck to Perry. O'Donnell's August 5th segment featured video footage (identified as being from "Talk To Action"), of Hagee's now infamous 'God sent Hitler' claim ("Then God sent a hunter. Hitler was a hunter.") According to O'Donnell, Hagee and his partisans sent letters to MSNBC protesting O'Donnell's coverage of Hagee. In response, Lawrence O'Donnell has made an open invitation for John Hagee, or his representative, to appear on O'Donnell's "Last Word" show to explain or clarify Hagee's controversial statements. John Hagee has so far refused (see embedded video, in full story, for Lawrence O'Donnell's August 5th, 2011 segment showcasing Hagee's statements.)
However, as Right Wing Watch's Brian Tashman describes,  John Hagee was far from the only pastor at Perry's The Response to have made controversial statements. Many of the speakers and endorsers of the event have done so. And, as I've recently documented, one of those pastors, who played an even more prominent role at The Response than John Hagee, was International House of Prayer founder and head Mike Bickle.

Like Hagee, Bickle also claims that Adolf Hitler was a "hunter" sent by God to persecute Europe's Jews. But Mike Bickle goes even farther than Hagee in one realm, through his forecast that there will soon be "prison camps" and "death camps" for Jews. Rick Perry's presidential campaign seems to have acknowledged that Bickle has made such remarks but denies any responsibility.

No way he'll subject himself to scrutiny outside his own media bubble. However, I bet he will use TBN to respond. Perhaps it's time to take a cold, hard look at that network, including their finances?

Max Blumenthal has an excellent video of Hagee's 2007 Christians United for Israel Tour which shows Hagee trying to cover-up his End Times theology and what he thinks it means for Jews.

Perhaps Hagee and Bickle see themselves as ordained for the task of persecuting Jews. Not a few members of the Catholic and Protestant clergy in Europe thought they were doing the right thing during their centuries of persecuting Jews in Europe. All this tells me is that they have learned nothing from history.

they don't try to repeat it.  It sounds more and more to me that they do.

Hagee and Bickle give every sign that they would be "hunters" in order to fulfill their sick fantasies about the "end times."
