I have posted an initial account of the first oral hearing in the case of Sexual Minorities of Uganda v. Lively at Eyes Right, the new blog of Political Research Associates.  It begins like this:

A delegation from Uganda, attorneys and staff from the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), and local supporters celebrated that whatever the suit's outcome, Lively was being held to account.  (More...)

We should remember that Uganda persecuted their Asian minority some time back. Now it's gays. That the president's wife is able to claim anti-homosexuality laws are not intended to persecute gays tells one all one needs to know about the mental gymnastics of the country's Christian leadership. They are not alone, unhappily. There is also Nigeria. The western world has a duty to boycott all these countries with appalling rulers and force the people to think again about whom they elect. also, if Judge Ponsor decides to let the case go forward anyway, and the Supreme Court does not invalidate foreign human rights suits under the Alien Tort Statute, it will easily become one of the most significant human rights cases of our time. How to jailbreak iPhone 4
