CUFI Leader Fantasizes, Ululates For Destruction Of Islam's 3rd Holiest Site

At the July 17th, 2007, second annual Night To Honor Israel event, in Washington DC, CUFI Regional Director Billye Brim made a short speech in which she focused on the Temple Mount and the Dome Of The Rock, Islam's 3rd Holiest site : "God has a plan for that hill". Brim didn't need to spell out what that plan was, her audience knew it well: the destruction of the Dome in preparation for the building of a 3rd Jewish Temple. I have paired a short excerpt from Brim's speech with another excerpt, from a Brim sermon aired on "The Believer's Voice Of Victory" in which Brim describes visiting the Temple Mount to pray for the Dome's destruction and then, seemingly intoxicated and giggling, tells her audience "that Dome is coming down !" and emits a chilling victory ululation. In a second clip, CUFI state director Robert Stearns fantasizes about the Dome's destruction. These audio clips illustrate the political extremity of "Christians United For Israel", whose leaders fantasize about an act, the destruction of the 3rd Holiest site of a major world religion, that is widely expected would lead to regional war. CUFI leaders and event speakers routinely demonize Islam, in some cases quite literally by labeling Muslims "devils", and CUFI's founder Pastor John Hagee has declared that America is already engaged in World War Three, a religious war.
An excerpt, purportedly from a 2001 writing by CUFI regional director Billye Brim published in The Glory Watch reads: "is it any wonder that today, the men of Islam worship toward the rising of the sun on this very spot where the Jews allowed the pure worship of God to degenerate into idolatry? Legal ground was given to devils at that time, and they still inhabit the Temple Mount". That sentiment, that Muslims are "devils" fits with the grotesque demonization of Islam that I witnessed and recorded at CUFI's 2007 second annual meeting in Washington DC. ( see: McCain and Lieberman Frolic At CUFI's Festival Of Hate ). One central preoccupation of Christian Zionism has been a desire for the destruction of the Dome Of The Rock, on the Temple Mount, that must precede the rebuilding of a third Jewish Temple there ; that chain of events must precede the Rapture and the accompanying Apocalyptic events commonly expected by those who hold Christian Dispensationalist Premillennial Apocalyptic theological views.

I must have missed it while I was on vacation.  Have you cross-posted it at Big Orange?

I just attended a terrific Sabeel conference in which both Donald Wagner and Rosemary Ruether gave presentations on Christian Zionism.  Since Ruether's presentation was on the soft Christian Zionism often found in mainline churches, I asked the panelists to talk about the influence of the IRD in not only opposing the mainline churches' justice work for Palestinians but in promoting Christian Zionism among renewal/front groups.  FOSNA appears to have a good line-up of speakers for its Boston conference in October.
