Following are video links and other resources used in my presentations given in Denver this past week about the dangers of partnering with CUFI.

The Colorado Allied Jewish Federation had scheduled John Hagee to speak at a major fundraiser in Denver on November 21, but there was an outcry from the local Jewish community and the invitation was withdrawn.  The backlash was immediate.  Articles accused those Jews who objected to Hagee's invitation as choosing support for progressive social values over support of Israel.  The head of the Houston Jewish Federation claimed that liberal Jews "would rather save spotted owls than stand tall for Israel."  David Brog, the Jewish executive of John Hagee's Christians United for Israel (CUFI) who promotes the organization to Jewish communities around the nation, is now scheduled to speak at the event in place of Hagee.

I've just returned from Denver, where I spoke both publicly and privately, to Jews and Christians, about the many reasons why this partnership is dangerous to Jews and to Israel's prospects for peace, and a problem for healthy interfaith relations.  Following are some of the resources used in my presentations.

See the John Hagee & Christian Zionism special focus box, always visible in the left column of

The following articles have numerous quotes from John Hagee and other CUFI leaders about end times prophecy, the peace process, demonization of Jews and Judaism, proselytizing, and more. Links:

Hagee vs. Hagee, In His Own Words

Hagee's "Hitler as hunter sent by God" quote:
Following is a video clip from "Jerusalem:  Countdown to Crisis" including Hagee's "Hitler as hunter" quote which resulted in the rejection of his endorsement by presidential candidate John McCain.  The sermon series was delivered in 2005.  A series of questions and answers about John Hagee and CUFI distributed by the Colorado Allied Federation states that the sermon was from 1999 and that Hagee "grappled with the vexing question of why a loving God would allow the Holocaust to occur."  A few minutes after this segment, Hagee talks about hurricanes Katrina and Rita (2005) and continues with his often repeated end times prophecy of an invasion of Israel during the Tribulation.  Hagee claims in his book Daniel to Doomsday that the primary purpose for the horrors of the Tribulation and the one-world rule of the Antichrist is to "bring Israel to the place where she will recognize Jesus Christ as Messiah."

Hagee on "land for peace" or a two-state resolution.
Hagee spoke in 2006 at Jerry Falwell's Thomas Road Baptist Church declaring that Israel will "never, never, never" give up land for peace.

CUFI leaders on end times prophecy and humans helping to advance prophecy prerequisites:

This is a video compilation (8:48 minutes) that researcher Bruce Wilson compiled with several video clips and and other documentation from John Hagee and CUFI regional director Billye Brim. John Hagee Ministry magazine solicits donations under the title "Become a Part of Biblical Prophecy."

Glenn Beck interviewed Hagee in 2007 on the Antichrist, the end of world, and dividing Jerualem.

This is an two minute ad for a sermon series including a sermon on Roman Catholicism in which Hagee graphically describes the destruction of the city of Rome and "Romanism" after providing a conspiracy-laden history of the Catholic church. He equates "Romanism" with the apostate church of the end times and with the "Whore of Babylon."

CUFI Summits

Many journalists are now excluded from CUFI summits.  However, there are three excellent existing videos with summit footage from 2007 and 2008.

Bill Moyers Journal - October 5, 2007
Note at about 6:07 CUFI participants lobbying Congressmen Phil Gingrey explain that they are against "land for peace."   At 9:23 Hagee asks if Katrina is connected to the evacuation of the settlements of Gaza.  This is from his 2005 sermon series "Jerusalem: Countdown to Crisis" which also includes the "Hitler as hunter" quote.

Fishers and Hunters - the Continuing Saga of Christian Zionism

Christian Zionism is Volatile and Changing Rapidly

Many Christian Zionist activist have abandoned the pre-Trib rapture, believing they will remain on earth during the Tribulation.  For more information on the significance of this shift in eschatology see:

One New Man - Proselytizing Jews

This shift in eschatology (described in the articles listed above) has added urgency to the proselytizing of Jews. Despite denials to Jewish communities, CUFI directors including Robert Stearns, Stephen Strang and George Morrision (and Jack Hayford, a board member at the formation of CUFI, according to the Jerusalem Post announcement) are involved in promoting Messianic ministries in Israel and elsewhere. The ideology has been tagged as "One New Man" or the coming together of Jews and Gentiles in Christ. Jews are allowed and encouraged to keep their Jewish identity, rituals, and holidays, but must accept Jesus in order to advance the Millennium or 1000-year utopia on earth.

There is not room here for anything more than an overview of examples, but CUFI leaders are at the core of a movement promoting Messianic Judaism (Jews who convert but keep their identity). I am happy to provide further research materials and documentation.

Below is video of "The Call" Jerusalem in 2008 led by Lou Engle, Mike Bickle (International House of Prayer) and CUFI director Robert Stearns. This event was simultaneous with the Global Day of Prayer in 2008 with the goal of bringing Christian and "Jewish believers" together. (Stearns is not visible in this video but can be seen on stage in other videos of the event.)

The Call Jerusalem, 2008

CUFI director Robert Stearns teaches for the Israel Mandate of the International House of Prayer (IHOP) and their annual event. The mandate is stated as "seeing the nation of Israel walking in their full destiny at the end of the age. Our primary role is to pray for and partner with the Messianic Jews who live in Israel and to pray for God’s purposes in the nation of Israel.” Stearns taught at this year's event with Messianic leaders Dan Juster and Eitan Shishkoff.

IHOP is geared toward preparing young people to be warriors in the end times and is an example of the growth of a more aggressive end times narrative in which believers will not be raptured but will fight the Antichrist. Stearns writes, "The next generation will deepen its understanding of discernment as they prepare to serve and obey as soldiers in the last-days battle.

Israel Mandate 2010

CUFI Director George Morrison of Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promise Keepers (as noted in his CUFI bio) which has shifted to a "One New Man" emphasis on supporting and promoting Messianic ministries. Link to Religion Dispatches article on Promise Keepers new emphasis.

CUFI director Robert Stearns is co-founder of the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem (DPPJ) with Jack Hayford, founder of King's Seminary. This is the largest international Christian Zionist event and it also has a "One New Man" emphasis. A widely used "text" for the One New Man ideology is Don Finto's 2001 book Your People Shall Be My People, that has been distributed to churches participating in DPPJ.

Jack Hayford's seminary has a Messianic division called The King's Jewish Voice, a partnershp with Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Bernis' Messianic Jewish Bible Institute which is helping to build Messianic training and communities in countries around the world. Below is a 2003 promotional video describing the Messianic Jewish Bible Institute.

CUFI leaders John Hagee, Robert Stearns, and Michael Little (of Christian Broadcast Network) endorse the charitable arm of Maoz Israel, a leader in forming Hebrew speaking indigenous Messianic ministries, located in Tel Aviv. Below are graphics from Maoz Israel.

For more information on Maoz Israel see:

CUFI Director Stephen Strang founded and heads Strang Communications, the leading publisher of charismatic evangelical media and publisher of several of John Hagee's books and Standing with Israel by David Brog. Strang's Charisma Magazine dedicated an issue in 2008 to Messianic ministries and missionaries in Israel including the leaders of Maoz Israel, Dugit Ministries, Jerusalem Institute of Justice, and many more.

CUFI Director Stephen Strang's Charismamagazine calls for Christians to "Bless Israel" by working with Messianic outreach groups while they are visiting Israel. Nevertheless he has announced in the magazine that the Israel Ministry of Tourism has asked him to help find pastors who wish to travel to Israel free of charge.

Religious Supremacism and the "Reclaiming the Seven Mountains Campaign"

Christian Zionism is camouflaging an aggressive strain of religious supremacism called "Dominionism." This dominionist movement is growing in popularity among sectors of the Religious Right and participants are being taught that they must "reclaim" the "Seven Mountains" of society and government. (See video in middle of webpage.)

Very comprehensive and extensively footnoted and linked article, Rachel -- I think you understand fundamentalist protestant theology better than they do!
I have read that some rabbis know the kind of people these evangelicals are, but that they are 'taking the money' and do not plan on giving anything in return. However, that is a somewhat dangerous game.

They have their proselytizing head in the barn door and it will be harder and harder for Jews to nullify their influence. They have a lot of money behind them and (they think) a biblical mandate to force prophetic events, as they see them.

No doubt the fundies will start to make more and more demands as they give Israel more and more money. The pity is that there are already enough christian fundamentalists in the world without Jews joining their ranks.
